What should we do today?
I suggested Wicker Park. How I wish that were streaming somewhere. Christina pointed out that it starred a young Rose Bryne. I watched the trailer today. The missing girlfriend is the actress who played Abigail in National Treasure.
We went to Bon Bon's Sandwiches and ordered banh mi. Recounting that to Christina in the evening, she pointed out I was pronouncing banh mi incorrectly. I can't remember now, but I'd like to get it correct. In any case, bahn mi's are Vietnamese, but the protein I chose was Korean bulgogi and my appetizer was Japanese shui mai (per the menu, but isn't shui mai Chinese?). Asian fusion, not at its best. The sandwiches were fine, the bread was toasted nicely, but I miss the good stuff, the authentic stuff in LA. Chicago hasn't gotten with that program yet.
We tapped our Ventra cards to get on the Blue line. I realized we were on the wrong side. We immediately exit, but now our cards are not accepted because we're at the same stop as the last scan. Or maybe it's because of the time? We pivoted to the bus, which was a more direct route to the park.
Wicker Park's namesake park was small in comparison the the huge Humbolt Park from yesterday, but it was very nice. The fountain is pretty, and I can see why a location scout would choose to feature it in a film with Josh Hartnett.

I didn't pack my picnic blanket, but we sat on the grass anyway. There were a bunch of bugs flying around me, but surprisingly, no bites. Mere was very encouraging of my daily jogs, so I went, despite the fact that I was wearing chucks. Also, my leggings were torn at the seams at the inner thighs.
Yesterday, my leggings felt tight. Perhaps I'm more bloated from the humidity. Perhaps my sweat impacts the fit. I thought it was because I bought a medium instead of a large, but when I saw the tag, it was large. That hurt. Vanity sizing matters not, but I thought I was doing better. It's extremely challenging to have an advanced metabolism. An older, more sophisticated metabolism, one that doesn't work as fast as it used to, one that is associated as an after effect of all the chemo and medication and whatever that I had to do.
"It's something that would have happened when you got older," the doctor told me. "It just happened to you sooner." I'm only 31, but my body is older (overlay Hamilton rap beat).
