I did everything on my to-do list except for the accounting stuff. My heart isn't in it.
Today was more mellow, as was the weather. It was still hot, but there was more of a breeze, and there were clouds in the sky.
We went thrifting at Village Discount Outlet. It was massive. I was on the hunt for graphic tees I could turn into crop tops.
There were a bunch of Cubs tees. Half of them were 2016 World Series Champions tees. In my mind, every Cubs tee was a gift from a boyfriend, and they never wore it, so they finally made space in their closet and donated it to the thrift store. I did not see White Sox tees. Those are true fans and more likely to hold onto their shirts. That being said, I rarely find Dodgers merch at thrift stores, but then again, I don't usually thrift in LA proper.
Once I had a few pieces, I needed fabric scissors, or just sharp scissors. I tested a few from a bin and found a ginormous and sturdy pair that fit the bill. They also had fabric glue hanging on the wall, so score.
After, we went to Humbolt Park. Specifically, the lake at the boathouse. I saw people on their swans, and they looked smaller in person. I asked Mere if it was a man-made lake. She pointed out the whirlpools. Once I saw them, it felt like I was on The Truman Show, and my life was all a lie on a movie set. That's dramatic, but I need to think that way to figure out the next thing to write.
I jogged around the lake while listening to the latest podcast episode of Drama Queens. My shoes felt like they were on fire from the sun. I walked a few extra intervals. When I returned to Mere, she told me the band got an offer to tour, which is amazing news!
At breakfast, I told her about a novel I'm writing, and that a character was based on her. We walked brainstormed a few ideas for the character's arc and she asked if they would go on tour at the end. Then hours later, she gets an actual call. Maybe I am on the Truman Show? The Jamie Show.
