Look at the Night Sky

Happy 4th of July!

I had two bad dreams last night. In one, I was Rachel Green from friends. I was wearing the green dress from "The One Where No One Is Ready." However, it is after "the break" and I was having a lot of PTRD with Ross, to the point where I woke up in tears. I'd go back to sleep and then my dreamscape would toggle to something else where I was myself. But that dream also woke me up in tears. I cannot remember it, but it was stressful.

First order of business for the day was groceries. We went to Target and then Pete's Fresh Market. Our receipts were long. Hopefully we won't have to go back.

I learned why I couldn't find a shopping cart when I went to Pete's the first time. They're stored outside and are chained up. You need a quarter to get it, and you get the quarter back when you return the cart.

We watched My Best Friend's Wedding. It was on my mind because Mere quoted it last night. She said "I've got moves you've never seen." I didn't know where it was from off the bat. She gave me a hint: she's walking with a tray of beers. Then I recalled the scene. I have a deeper appreciation for that film because of the baseball presence. Cameron Diaz's father is the owner of the White Sox.

The Dodgers aren't playing in the midwest this month, unfortunately. I still want to check out a Sox game at Guaranteed Rate Field. I decided that I can allocate my budget for a Cubs game towards transport to a Brewers game in Milwaukee.

Mere and I went to The 606. She walked, I did my interval jog. I turned around after 1.6 miles and met up with her. I've been to this trial 3 times now, and I see it differently each time. This time, it was through Mere's eyes. She observed the vegetation, which made me take more notice of the plants too.

She wanted to check out the park off the Albany access point. There is a rope jungle gym with a trampoline in the center. After climbing, I noticed a library box. I didn't find any books I wanted to read. I wanted a female author, preferably a romance novel, but there weren't any. Mere did organize the books, and she did a good job. The last thing we did at this park was take pictures and climb the butterfly wall.

Back on the trail, Mere found a hill we could roll on, which was a lot of fun. People were shooting off their fireworks, but the sun was still out. I don't understand why they can't wait until night time. It looks so much better.

I FaceTimed my mom since it's Sunday, and I call her on Sundays. My entire family went to my cousin's house to celebrate together. I had a bit of fomo, but not enough to wish I were there instead of here.

Once the lights did go out, we set up our chairs at our bay window. There were plenty of firework shows around us. To my delight, a party across the street had an hour's worth of fireworks. The added element of watching people light the fireworks made me feel like I was part of the action. There were two mishaps where the fireworks shot onto the street instead of the sky. The second mishap resulted in a small fire, but they put it out after a few minutes. It is 12:29am CDT as I finish typing this blog entry, and I can still hear fireworks going off.
