Hamilton's release on Disney+ is a big deal to me. It would have been a big deal to me even if the the rest of the world didn't think so, but they do.
This musical is a masterpiece. In high school, US history was my least favorite history subject because the textbooks were boring. The songs transformed something I found dull into something culturally relevant. Plus, the colorblind casting allows everyone to see themselves in the founding fathers. I used to see these historical figures as pictures on dollar bills or names and facts I had to memorize. I didn't associate them with feelings or emotions. So much emotion is felt now through the raps and melodies. This is complimented by brilliant staging and a mega-talented cast.
I clicked play at 12am PDT. It was the front row ticket I wanted since 2016. I'm extremely thankful I got see this story told on screen. And I'm glad I can watch it again whenever I want.
I sat through all of the credits. Someday, I will be a part of a production like this. Someday I'll get my shot.
